Director of Nursing

Maumee, OH

Salary:
$37.01–$49.96 per hour, depending on experience.
Includes 6.5 paid holidays per year, approximately 10 days of PTO in the first year, comprehensive benefits (health, dental, vision, 401k), no nights/weekends/holiday shifts, and growth opportunities through a company-paid certification program.

Job Summary:
The Director of Nursing is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and accountability of nursing services within the facility. This role oversees clinical operations for the Operating Room (OR), Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Sterile Processing Department (SPD), and patient care services on a 24-hour basis. The Director ensures high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, financial stewardship, and staff development, while aligning nursing services with the organization’s philosophy and objectives.

Job Responsibilities:

Financial Management

  • Oversee budgeting, wage percentage management, statistical analysis, and financial reporting to ensure operational efficiency and profitability.

  • Submit annual case costing reports and provide budgetary recommendations.

  • Utilize internal and external benchmarking data to drive high-performance outcomes.

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, state, and federal regulations.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain nursing policies and procedures aligned with professional standards and organizational goals.

  • Oversee infection control programs, surveillance reporting, and corrective action planning.

  • Monitor incidents, complaints, and unusual occurrences; participate in investigations and corrective measures.

  • Oversee credentialing reviews and ensure staff preparedness for inspections and surveys.

  • Train staff in fire, disaster, and emergency protocols and evaluate performance during drills.

Staff Management & Leadership

  • Lead hiring, training, supervision, and performance evaluations of nursing staff.

  • Promote teamwork, positive employee relations, and effective communication.

  • Manage staffing schedules to meet patient needs and regulatory standards.

  • Implement discipline according to policy and assist in determining wage increases.

  • Oversee ongoing education, certification, and professional development initiatives.

Quality Assurance & Patient Experience

  • Ensure delivery of compassionate, high-quality patient care.

  • Monitor compliance with clinical quality indicators and regulatory standards.

  • Develop and coordinate quality assurance activities, including rounds, interviews, and record reviews.

  • Respond to and resolve patient and physician concerns.

  • Participate in survey responses, Plans of Correction, and follow-up quality assurance initiatives.

  • Optimize physician scheduling to ensure efficient, high-quality patient care delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Ohio.

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

  • Minimum two years of professional nursing experience in a hospital or surgery center setting.

  • Minimum two years of nursing administration or comparable management experience.

  • ACLS certification required.

  • Current CPR certification required.

Competencies:

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Knowledge of federal and state nursing regulations in a surgical setting.

  • Ability to analyze financial reports and apply mathematical concepts in budgeting and operational planning.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Special Requirements:

  • Ability to work overtime and be available on an on-call basis.

  • Ability to meet physical demands, including sustained standing, light lifting, and exposure to clinical hazards.
