Nurse Aide

Job Title

Provides personal care and assistance with Activities of Daily Living to residents, while promoting independence in accordance with safety standards. Observes and reports changes in residents' physical and emotional condition to nurse or supervisor. Fosters self-respect and a feeling of worth in each resident by consistent understanding and kindness in care.

Scope of Job Tasks:

Assists residents with Activities of Daily Living, including bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, and transferring. Provides residents with tub baths and obtains weight for nurse. Properly lifts residents according to needs determination, using proper assistance (i.e. 2 STNAs, Sit/Stand Lift, Full Body Lift)

Makes resident beds, changes linens, and organizes rooms to maintain a safe environment.

Answers call lights in a timely manner.

Assists new residents in transition to facility labeling and putting away belongings, advising of meal and activities schedules, etc.

Maintains clean work rooms, records resident data on various logs, and properly stores equipment.

Attends required in-service training and meetings.

Other tasks as assigned within scope of practice.

Maintains Standard Precautions at all time to ensure proper infection control.

Requirements:

Must be certified by the State of Ohio as a State Tested Nurse Aide/Certified Nurse Aide or enrolled in a certified NATP program. Must obtain certification within 4 months of hire. Must have basic communication skills and a willingness to learn and be taught by others. Must be able to read, write, and follow oral instructions.

Work Experience:

Previous health care-related experience preferable, but not essential. On-the-job training available. Will work under close supervision, but must be self-directed and motivated.

Physical Demands:

Good physical and mental health. Must be able to endure constant standing and walking throughout shift. Must be able to turn, stoop, bend, stretch, and lift to complete aforementioned job tasks. Must have good finger and hand dexterity to handle delicate equipment. Must have good visual and hearing acuity to detect changes in residents' conditions and needs.

Responsibility For Confidential Matters:

Works regularly with some information such as medical records or reports, information on computer screens or other electronic devices, and records that are restricted to the specific persons. Must comply with confidentiality policy.
