Cook/Meat Cutter
Summit Fine Meats is a family-owned butcher shop serving the Anderson Township community for over 40 years. We are looking for a customer service-focused individual who is interested in working in a fast-paced, fun, and unique work environment. If you enjoy working with food, and people and take pride in always delivering the highest quality product while having a positive attitude we want to talk to you.
The ideal candidate will have basic knowledge of food preparation, developing and reading recipes, cooking and presentation. Also needs to have basic knowledge of butchering beef, pork, and poultry cuts, and deli operations, have a willingness to learn and be customer service-minded. The right candidate will also be able to expand their meat cutting, culinary, and leadership knowledge and skills.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide the highest level of customer service both internally and externally.
- Develop recipes that can be incorporated into the location. Able to order all food supplies as needed.
- Able to read and follow recipes, including measuring, weighing and mixing ingredients. Be able to modify if necessary to use cuts of meats within the location.
- Bake, saute, fry and boil meats, vegetables, beef, poultry and other foods.
- Able to use knives and other equipment to cut, dice, peel and chop food items.
- Experience with preparing, cooking and storing food safely.
- Maintain sanitary conditions, including cleaning and sanitizing all work surfaces, utensils, and equipment.
- Control quality of product to conform to company standards.
- Must dress according to company policy and maintain a neat, clean appearance always.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
Additional Requirements for Cook:
- 3+ year experience in a food service establishment.
- Basic knowledge, understanding and application of various cooking techniques.
- Some experience in butchering.
- Ability to check in orders and rotate stock.
- Willingness to learn and adaptable,
- Able to explain the proper cuts and cooking techniques for customer needs.
- Ability to inspect products to maintain freshness and quality.
- A strong work ethic that included being on feet for long periods while also lifting over 50 pounds.
- Able to multitask as work requires waiting on customers throughout the day.
- Follow safety and PPE guidelines. In addition, the ability to safely use a band saw and other tools.
