Job Summary

We are seeking a Supervisor, Maintenance & Facilities for our site located in Spencerville, OH .

As the Supervisor, Maintenance & Facilities you will Supervise maintenance technicians, apprentices, and custodians while p erforming preventative maintenance, repairs, and maintenance in plant or office facilities, or on machines and equipment.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Schedule and prioritize workload of group members.
  • Provide direct daily supervision and review work of assigned departmental employees.
  • Oversee the coordination, scheduling and review of general daily maintenance work requests/requirements.
  • Perform work in the maintenance trades of carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair, electrical, sheet metal fabrication, and welding.
  • Conduct routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment.
  • Test, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair machines and equipment.
  • Use blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ensure facility equipment records, calibrations, and documentation is maintained/performed in accordance with SOP requirements.
  • Oversee and/or coordinate and schedule preventive maintenance requirements for facility equipment.
  • Assist with the establishment and maintenance of the selected standard computerized tracking system for facilities-related maintenance assignments/ duties.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Enter and maintain required information into the computerized tracking system.
  • Oversee daily operational activities and supervise a group of non-exempt employees.
  • Responsible for personnel management activities such as: scheduling, personnel actions (hiring, promotions, transfers, etc.), training and development, providing regular direction and feedback on performance, disciplinary actions and preparing and delivering annual performance and salary reviews.
  • Recommend short-range operating objectives, organizational structure, staffing requirements and succession plans.
  • May assist in development of departmental budget.
  • As required, oversee maintenance of group training manual and training records.

  • Ensure adherence to pertinent regulatory requirements and to site and departmental policies, practices and procedures [SOPs, safety procedures and biosafety protocols]. Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Education: Associate’s (A.A./A.S.) degree or equivalent in business, computer science or related discipline. Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) preferred. HVAC license preferred.
  • Experience: Journey person level experience required. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Experience with building automation system preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
  • Other: Demonstrated skills with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications. Comprehension of regulations and ability to apply critical thinking skills to evaluate requirements and effectively communicate (written and oral) findings. Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines. Must be able to perform the job professionally and diplomatically. Must be able to train others, using common training principles and skills. Organizational and leadership skills required.

The pay range for this position is $70,000 - 80,000 USD per year. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to handle tools and maintenance equipment.
  • Frequently lifts bags weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Frequently climbs ladders, kneels and/or lies on concrete flooring.
  • Walks or stands for up to 90% of the workday.

Work Environment:

  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to wear protective clothing (goggles, face shield, surgical mask, respirator, cap, gloves, scrubs, steel toed boots).
  2. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to work in high/precarious places, tight or confined spaces, and in outside weather conditions.
  3. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to work with and/or near moving mechanical parts, sharp objects, toxic or caustic chemicals and biohazards, and live animals with risk of exposure to allergens and/or zoonotic diseases.
  4. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, unpleasant odors, wet, humid and/or extreme temperature conditions, and risk of electrical shock.
  5. Occasionally is exposed to vibration.
