Required Qualifications

• Minimum 18 months of recent behavioral health experience in an acute care (non-psychiatric) hospital setting — psych nursing experience preferred
• Permanent Ohio RN license or Compact RN license in hand at time of submission
• Active BLS certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
• At least two recent references from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in the specialty applying for (within the past 12 months)
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Negative 10 Panel + Nicotine (Cotinine) drug screen required within 12 months of start
• BCI/FBI fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signing contract

Key Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to geriatric psychiatric patients in an acute care setting — psychiatric nurse responsibilities include assessments and care planning
• Milieu management, therapeutic engagement, and de-escalation techniques for behavioral health patients
• Medication administration, monitoring, and documentation in compliance with safeMedicate standards
• Perform thorough patient assessments, accurate charting, and timely clinical documentation
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, social workers, therapists) to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Complete required orientation and competency assessments (ECG rhythm recognition test, safeMedicate)
• Maintain compliance with facility, state, and regulatory standards for psychiatric nursing
