- Facilitate seamless weekly payroll processing for 100+ employees using Gusto.
- Ensure timely and accurate payment of wages, taxes, and deductions; Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation.
- Provide ongoing and support and configuration/optimization of the payroll platform.
- Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll and taxes.
- Manage year-end payroll processes, including W-2 preparation and distribution and 1099-related tasks.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable payroll laws and regulations, and Federal, State and Local tax withholdings.
- Stay up-to-date with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and escalate / implement changes as needed.
- Analyze payroll data to identify trends, errors, and areas for improvement.
- Prepare reports and summaries to inform management decisions.
- Partner with HR team on benefits/total rewards and 401(k) initiatives.
- Assist with accounting related tasks such as recording vendor bills and processing payments (i.e. Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable – AP/AR tasks).
- Other responsibilities as necessary to meet evolving business needs.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in payroll processing and administration; Strong knowledge of payroll and tax principles, regulations, and 401(k) aministration.
- Exposure to working with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Accounts Payable/Receivable, and experience working on special accounting projects (month-end close, etc.) preferred.
- Proficiency in payroll software, preferably Gusto; working knowledge of additional leading payroll platforms (UKG, Workday, ADP, etc.) and QuickBooks preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Strong administrative/technical skills; Comfort working on both Mac and PC computers using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Docs/Sheets/Slides, etc.) IM/video conferencing (Slack, Teams, and Zoom), and telephones efficiently.
- Experience in a fast-paced startup and/or high-growth company environment preferred.
