Substitute Teacher
position requires a team-teaching mindset, being able to effectively communicate with parents, and collaborate with the
campus community. Essential Departmental Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide quality care and education to young children during class sessions assigned.
- Curriculum planning, team teach, project and classroom preparation. Inform Director of needed materials.
- Communicate positively and effectively with parents. Inform Director of important child/family issues.
- Oversee college students involved in the nursery school. Monitor and guide student involvement, communicate and model quality early childhood practices.
- Fulfill licensing training requirements. Maintain current training in CPR, first aid, communicable disease, child abuse prevention and continuing education. Update fingerprinting and medical exam as needed.
- Provide extra classroom coverage: First week of school, winter/spring breaks, visitation day, summer camp, other special events as needed.
- Professional development: State or National Education conferences, teachers' workshops.
- Documentation of child observations, parent-teacher conferences and end of the year child reports.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Other duties may be assigned
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university.
- One to two years related experience and/or training.
- Complete ODJFS licensing requirements
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limit standardization exists.
- Demonstrates dependable and responsible actions.
- Generates creative solutions.
- Possess basic computer skills.
- Displays a professional demeanor.
- Acknowledges and complies with all departmental SOP, safety, and college requirements.
- Applies institutional policies on a case-by-case basis.
- Strong professional ethics and discretion with an attitude of respect for all employed at CoW.
- Moderate to loud noise - sounds of children.
- The job requires standing, walking, running, sitting in small chairs and on the floor, fine motor skills, talking, hearing and sight.
