Job Title:Gambling Education Specialist
Department:Social Work | Collaborative Community Initiatives The Gambling Education Specialist (GES) oversees the completion of project deliverables for the initiative "Building Readiness and Capacity to Address Collegiate Problem Gambling in Ohio". This position supports the Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Drug Misuse Prevention and Recovery (HECAOD) in strengthening the prevention, treatment, and recovery infrastructure on Ohio campuses to address problem gambling among college students. The GES will lead three key services: a statewide needs assessment survey, a Networked Improvement Community (NIC) for campus intervention, and a virtual training series to build professional capacity. This role involves engagement with internal teams and external partners. Responsibilities Include- Coordinating the launch, data collection, and analysis of the Collegiate Gambling Capacity Survey to establish baseline data on campus readiness and existing programming.
- Facilitating the Networked Improvement Community (NIC) with four Ohio campuses, including recruitment and leading monthly meetings to train campuses on evidence-informed practices and improvement science.
- Providing technical assistance to Ohio campuses as they plan, implement, and evaluate a problem gambling intervention strategy on their campus.
- Supporting virtual training by securing subject matter experts, identifying key training topics based on survey data, facilitating live sessions, and managing post-production.
- Engaging with external partners to ensure a collaborative and cohesive project approach.
- Drafting summary reports, compiling evaluation findings, and reporting on training participation and outcomes to stakeholders.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation in compliance with funder requirements, research protocols, and institutional policies.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 4 years of relevant experience required.
Desired Qualifications Advanced degree in relevant field may be desirable. 4-8 years of relevant experience preferred.- Experience in problem gambling service delivery
- Experience with public health frameworks
- Experience with project management and/or grant administration
- Experience working with institutions of higher education
- Experience with survey administration, data analysis, and research documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, or similar).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote work environment.
Duties Description
- Facilitating the Networked Improvement Community (NIC), including recruitment, monthly training, and providing technical assistance for intervention implementation and evaluation
- Supporting the Virtual Training Series, including securing subject matter experts, identifying key topics, facilitating live trainings, and managing post-production
- 20%: Coordinating the administration, data collection, analysis, and report drafting for the Collegiate Gambling Capacity Survey
- 15%: Partner Engagement and Project Administration, including ensuring a collaborative approach with external partners and maintaining project documentation.
- 5%: Dissemination of gambling-related education and HECAOD developed resources through written reports and/or live or virtual presentations
