Department Summary

This exciting opportunity will give a professional the opportunity to work with a dynamic group of students that are members of four governing councils and are part of 33 organizational chapters and growing. Our current community consists of ~2000 undergraduate students, with 13 IFC fraternities with expansion underway, 10 Panhellenic sororities, 7 NPHC chapters and 3 multiculturally based organizations. We also have a chapter of Order of Omega.

The Position

The Division of Student Affairs, specifically, the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life seeks an energetic, collaborative, and student-centered professional to be a contributing member of the Ohio University community. Reporting to the Director of Sorority and Fraternity Life, the Assistant Director advises, coordinates, and promotes social Greek letter organizations and supports the development of their members.

Specific responsibilities include:
  • Provides oversight and ongoing supervision to Ohio University's Sorority & Fraternity life governing bodies.
  • Assists with recruitment initiatives for the community's chapters and governing bodies.
  • Supervises up to 3 graduate assistants, practicum students, and graduate interns.
  • Serves as the chapter coach to various recognized IFC , MGC , NPHC , and PC chapters.
  • Partners with key campus partners to plan and implement leadership development and risk management programming for the SFL community.
  • Maintains fiscal oversight of program and council budgets and utilizes appropriate procurement and contracting practices.
  • Develops, implements, and assesses outcome-based educational and leadership development initiatives including but not limited to: Council Officer Training, Officer Transitions, and New Member Education
  • Prepares and submits reports and assessments detailing SFL grade point, recruitment and membership statistics and SFL Community Standards
  • Serves on University-Wide Committees.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Sorority and Fraternity Life.

Supports the student experience outside the classroom by developing and implementing programs that promote student integration, well-being, and success. Develops and implements student non-academic programs, services, and activities, including residential life, social events, public service, student conduct, leadership development, student organization advising, and other areas.

Physical Requirements

This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 5 or more years of related professional experience, or equivalent education and experience (i.e. Master's degree plus 3 years related professional experience, etc.).

Pay Rate: The proposed salary range for this position is $45,000-$55,000. The salary negotiated at the time of offer will be commensurate with education and experience while also considering internal equity.
