Chemical Blending Operator - Liquid Coatings
Join a leading manufacturer of liquid coatings and surface treatment chemicals at our Cleveland facility. As a Chemical Blending Operator in our Liquid Division, you’ll be central to producing safe, consistent, high‑quality chemical batches that keep our customers moving.
A day in the role
You arrive on the floor, review batch tickets, and stage ingredients. You calculate batch sizes per SOPs, set up the correct vessels, and begin blending. Mid‑shift, you disassemble and clean equipment for the next run, log quality results, and communicate any abnormalities to your team leader. Before end of shift, you package finished product into the specified containers, label and secure them, and move them to warehouse staging. Throughout, you’re handling materials safely and reporting any near misses immediately.
Core responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and determine batch quantities and equipment based on SOPs.
- Operate, stage, clean, disassemble, and reassemble manufacturing equipment to posted conditions.
- Accurately record data on batch tickets, equipment logs, and quality test results; complete all required checks.
- Fill, seal, and label mixed products; transfer to the warehouse staging area.
- Escalate issues or irregularities to your supervisor/team lead and attend all company-sponsored training.
- Handle hazardous and general liquid waste properly—keep containers labeled, covered, and staged—and promptly report accidents, near misses, or property damage.
What you bring
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Ability to pass a basic math assessment.
- 2+ years of manufacturing experience preferred.
Additional competencies
- Sound judgment for simple independent decisions; solid addition and subtraction skills.
- Comfort converting units (for example, grams to pounds) and using quality control tools.
- Proficient with pallet jacks, powered industrial trucks (PITs), and related equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and maneuver drums up to 440 lbs.
Compensation
Salary range: $17.39 to $25.75. Compensation for this role is negotiable based on experience and skill set.
