About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year of current specialty experience License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) Must-Have: Epic charting experience required Description: The position involves working in a corrections health unit. Candidates will float to various medical-surgical units as needed. Ensure staff safety in a secure corrections environment. Weekend shifts may vary based on unit requirements. The unit is a locked environment with access controlled by security personnel. Staffing ratios include 1 nurse for every 3 patients in the PCU and 1 nurse for every 4-5 patients in the medical-surgical area. The patient population includes individuals with active oncology diagnoses, history of cancer, and various non-oncology diagnoses. Skills and competencies required include medical-surgical and telemetry experience. Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and IV therapy management. Candidates must be familiar with interpretation of dysrhythmias and management of chemotherapy administration. Patient management will involve sinusoidal and non-invasive airway techniques, feeding tube management, and hemodialysis pre/post-care. Candidates should have experience in blood product administration and central line management. All candidates must be made aware of the urgency of the credentialing process. There are strict compliance deadlines that must be followed. References from previous employers and supervisors are required. This role involves providing care to both oncology and non-oncology patients within a secure environment.
