Registered Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Location: Columbus, Ohio 43205
• Healthcare Setting: Hospital – Level III/IV NICU
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (Travel Contract)
• Start Date: September 8, 2025
• End Date: December 8, 2025
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (19:00 – 07:30)
• Total Hours per Week: 36
• Orientation: 36 hours
• Weekend Coverage: Required
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $2250-$2310

Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications

• Current and active Ohio State RRT license (required at time of application)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Level III/IV NICU experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
• BLS (Basic Life Support) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications
• Experience with SERVO-U ventilators and Epic charting system
• Previous travel respiratory therapy experience required
• Must provide 2 professional references (one must be a manager or supervisor)
• Willingness to float to other respiratory therapy units as needed
• Applicants must reside outside a 60-mile radius from Columbus, OH
• Cannot have worked as permanent staff for Nationwide Children’s Hospital within the last 2 years

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Deliver advanced respiratory care to neonates and infants in a Level III/IV NICU hospital setting
• Set up and manage aerosol therapy (mask and trach), BiPAP, CPAP/Nasal CPAP/BIPAP, and high-frequency oscillators
• Assist with intubations, airway management, and tracheostomy care
• Perform nasal and oropharyngeal suctioning
• Administer nitric oxide therapy and operate oscillating ventilators
• Collect sputum specimens and manage T-piece, trach collar, and Medihaler therapies
• Float to other respiratory therapy units as required
• Document patient care accurately using the Epic charting system
