The Department of Internal Medicine is recruiting Business Manager/Administrator roles to support each of the following divisions: Hospital Medicine, General Medicine, and Rheumatology . Each Business Manager/Administrator will have direct supervisory responsibilities of a unit or multiple units, in addition to management responsibilities for a wide range of projects/tasks associated with primary business operations, academic, or student services. Responsibilities include day-to-day administration of specialized activities related to a business office and reports to management, provide recommendation and advice to management or other groups on process related topics and conduct or carry out work procedures and activities in accordance with local, state, federal, and university regulations. Performs related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time. Essential Functions- Manage the financial, administrative, and operational activities of a business unit with a considerable income generation component while demonstrating expertise as an experienced and highly skilled professional.
- Direct personnel functions for an operating unit and oversee annual salary increase processes.
- Lead budget preparation and monitor grants and contracts.
- Determine purchasing priorities and make recommendations for major capital expenditures.
- May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
- Develops, analyzes, and compiles metrics and data to assist in evaluation of clinical, research, and education programs.'Oversees the recruitment of faculty and providers including but not limited to business plans, recruitment visits, and onboarding.
- Presents results to divisional faculty and leadership and works collaboratively to develop strategies to further improve program success.
- Responds to requests for common data needs.
- Engages with department and division leadership to initiate strategic planning and development of clinical, research and education programs within the department.
- Ensures division’s policies and practices promote a culture that values wellness, work-life balance, and resiliency while also supporting innovation, productivity and career advancement for staff and trainees.
- Coordinates the work of multiple team members from cross-disciplines and works cross-functionally to collaborate with managers, leadership, key stakeholders and supporting functions to plan projects, define milestones and assess risks.
- Serves as a subject matter expert for clinical operational data management, including supporting dashboard development, maintenance, and encouraging ongoing use of data to drive decision making.
- Advocates for and collaborates with system leaders to advance the department’s clinical, research and education programs and establishes best practices.
- Works directly with providers and clinical managers to resolve system barriers and streamline processes
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field.
- Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
- Three (3) years of financial and administrative experience

- Seven (7) years of related work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement
- Three (3) years of financial and administrative experience, including one (1) year of previous supervisory experience.
