Precision Screw Machine Set‑Up Machinist (Acme Platforms)

Join our Avon Lake team and take the lead on Acme screw machine set‑ups that drive quality and throughput. If you thrive on getting complex mechanisms perfectly tuned, this role is built for you.
Why this role matters
Your set‑ups establish the standard for accuracy, reliability, and safety across each production run.
What you'll handle
- Interpret blueprints/job orders to capture dimensions, tolerances, and tooling requirements.
- Install/secure collets, bushings, stock pushers, and load bar stock into the feeder.
- Install and adjust cams, gears, and adjustable stops to control motion profiles.
- Mount tools in holders; set appropriate cutting speeds and feed rates.
- Cycle machines, verify performance, and adjust for precise part accuracy.
- Start and monitor operations; complete first‑piece inspections against spec.
- Submit conforming first‑piece parts to Quality for approval.
- Execute interval‑based checks and maintain required documentation.
- Operate within the 2‑pan system procedures.
- Replace/sharpen tools at the bench grinder as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area; take on additional duties as assigned.
What you'll bring
- Experience setting up and operating Acme screw machines or similar production machinery.
- Fluency in reading technical drawings and manufacturing documents.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
- Dedication to quality, safety, and continuous improvement practices.
- Ability to follow structured processes and keep accurate records.
- Adaptability and a proactive approach in a fast‑paced shop environment.
