Health & Safety Intern
- Assist with incident investigation and monthly indicator reporting
- Review and disposition of safety Good Catch reports
- Identify potential hazards within the work environment
- Participate in leadership safety walks
- Support employee training
- Support Capital Improvement project risk assessment and consultation
- Identification and use of personal protective equipment
- Leading by example and taking ownership of identified issues
- Seizing opportunities to learn by participating in or shadowing activities to increase understanding
- Facilitating at least one safety improvement projects aimed at closing the risk gap and/or cultivating a positive safety culture
- Implement action items as they relate to improvements identified in leadership safety walks
- Working independently when possible
- Asking "why", demonstrating open-mindedness, and challenging the status quo
- Leading and supporting change for the sake of improvement
- Generating new ideas and enthusiasm in our pursuit of safety excellence
- Other duties as assigned
- Must be enrolled at the Ohio State University
- A desire to make a difference and affect change
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
- Strong ethical standard
- A concern for the well-being of others
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
- Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
- This role requires attendance at a worksite
- This is a part time internship working up to 20 hours per week, additional hours/weeks may be available based on business needs and will be discussed in advance with supervisor
- Additional terms may be available if interest by candidate and deemed appropriate by supervisor
- Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
- May involve some lifting
- Ability to use personal computer, calculator, and work with standard software application
- Must be able to detect and understand audible alarms, detect changes in noise levels of rotating equipment and portable radio communication
- Capable of frequently standing; walking; balancing; sitting; climbing (ladders, stairs, ramps, catwalks and the like as required); kneeling; pushing; pulling; lifting
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to half and full-face respirators, fall protection equipment, hardhat, safety shoes, safety glasses
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to extreme environmental conditions - heat, cold, humidity, noise, dust
