Sports Performance Coach
Ursuline College, a NCAA Division II institution and member of the G-MAC Conference, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Sports Performance Coach to lead the sports performance program for 15 intercollegiate athletic teams. The position reports to the Athletic Director.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement comprehensive training programs tailored to athletes’ specific sports and skill levels, including swimming, basketball, cheerleading, climbing, judo, karate, and martial arts.
- Conduct skill assessments to identify strengths and areas for improvement, setting clear goals for each athlete’s development.
- Lead dynamic coaching sessions that incorporate strength conditioning, agility drills, flexibility exercises, and sport-specific techniques.
- Monitor athlete progress through regular evaluations and adjust training plans accordingly to maximize performance gains.
- Promote proper technique and safety protocols during all activities to prevent injuries and ensure a safe training environment.
- Foster a positive team environment by encouraging teamwork, discipline, and good sportsmanship among participants of all ages.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, or childcare providers to support young athletes’ physical education and overall well-being.
- Manage behavior effectively by implementing behavior management strategies that motivate athletes while maintaining discipline.
- Maintain detailed records of training sessions, progress reports, and safety incidents to ensure consistent quality of coaching.
- Stay current with the latest trends in sports science, coaching techniques, and youth development to continually enhance your coaching skills.
Requirements
-Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Performance, or related field
-Current NCSA/CSCS certification and/or CSCCa/SCCC certification
-Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a collegiate or professional strength and conditioning environment
-Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to NCAA rules and regulations
-Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification
-Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate diverse groups of learners.
