About the Role

We are seeking a  Billing Coordinator who is detail-oriented, proactive, and service-minded. This role is essential to ensuring timely, accurate reimbursement while maintaining a positive experience for patients, families, and payors. The ideal candidate understands that strong billing operations directly support patient care, agency sustainability, and trust.

Job Responsibilities


  • Ensure timely and accurate billing and collections to support optimal reimbursement and healthy accounts receivable performance


  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient billing records across EMR and billing systems, documenting all follow-up and account activity thoroughly


  • Actively work aging accounts receivable, including resubmitting claims, resolving denials, and escalating significantly delinquent accounts as appropriate


  • Compile, track, and report key billing metrics and trends


  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of billing systems, workflows, and system enhancements or updates


  • Serve as a professional point of contact for patients, families, payors, and internal teams regarding billing-related questions


  • Ensure billing aligns with payor contracts, authorization requirements, and hospice-specific regulations


  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and managed care plans relevant to hospice services


  • Protect the confidentiality of patient and organizational information in accordance with HIPAA and company standards


  • Support audits, appeals, and documentation requests as needed


  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the success of the revenue cycle and agency operations

Job Qualifications


  • Minimum of 2 year of experience in billing, collections, or revenue cycle operations within hospice or home health


  • Working knowledge of insurance plans, authorizations, claims submission, and appeals processes


  • Ability to research and resolve complex billing or payor issues independently


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook required)


  • Experience with EMR 


  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines


  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-service mindset


  • Ability to work collaboratively while also being self-directed and accountable
