Production Planning Supervisor - Technical Glass Products - Perrysburg, OH The Production Planning Supervisor uses their excellent communication and analytical skills to provide Project Management and Production teams support for fire-rated glass projects. What You Will Do:
  • Directly supervise employees in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws including interviewing, hiring, managing and training.
  • Lead and manage the production operations and manufacturing process in a safe and profitable manner
  • Support standard practices, SOP's, procedures, production tools, and techniques to improve operational efficiencies and quality
  • Provide policy and leadership.
  • Plan, assign and direct work.
  • Appraise performance.
  • Create a culture of engagement.
  • Ensure the production goals, initiatives, projects, and performance measure align with the goals and performance measures of the operation's department and the company
Production Planning
  • Collect project status by work cell from production supervisors.
  • Update and maintain the production schedule / capacity planner.
  • Identify any constraints creating a late delivery or late start of projects within any work cell.
  • Make Load Level recommendations by strategic planning of work cells, resources, operators, man-hours, and project flow to create a more balanced use of labor resources.
  • Review and create recovery plan for any projects which have missed their planned start date in any work cell or appear to be completing late.
  • Create and distribute and updated weekly and daily workload schedules.
  • Communicate (with Supervisors) the priorities within the daily workload schedule.
  • Input new projects into capacity planner.
  • Review any CSI (Customer Service Incident) projects and determine their impact on the schedule.
  • Identify work cell needs for materials, manpower, and machines, and communicates those needs to the Plant Manager.
  • Review on-hold projects.
  • Review purchase order constraints for any open PO or late arrival items and notify purchasing.
  • Set weekly and monthly shipping goals based on project number and dollar volume.
  • Manage the operations performance measures and keep data current for each department.
Shipping/Logistics Support
  • Maintain an accurate published schedule of all shipments that are schedule for export.
  • Publish an accurate daily schedule of all incoming freight that provides identification and arrival dates.
Project Management Support
  • Review projects in reservation and/or projects pending release to WIP and release to or relieve from the schedule / capacity planner as needed.
  • Lead weekly production / project management review meetings.
  • Gather and balance competing schedule needs from project managers and create best case scenario in production capacity planner.
What You Need to Succeed:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, manufacturing, supply chain, or technology preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in planning/scheduling in a manufacturing, construction, or glazing industry.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures, drafting standards and blue print reading, bill of material, quality systems and flow of quality requirements, Excel, project management tools, and resource planning systems.
  • Experience with Lean, 5S, Dashboard/Balanced Scorecard and Process Improvement methodology
  • Strong organizational and project management skills combined with a close attention to detail.
  • Carefully monitors process and organizes systems of records.
  • Follows detailed procedures and ensures accuracy in documentation and data.
  • Ability to quickly adjust to new, different, or changing requirements.
  • Accurate, timely and effectively identifies customer needs and objectives; flexibility and ability to work with TGP resources and customer resources to meet customer's needs.
  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to manage both personal and team's work load and to prioritize multiple tasks
