About The University Of Cincinnati College-Conservatory Of Music (CCM) At CCM Musical Theatre we cultivate an environment of healthy, dynamic and innovative training, fostering creative growth for our students, faculty and community collaborators alike. The CCM Musical Theatre was the first program of its kind in the US, was used by the National Association of Schools of Theatre in formulating the guidelines for the accreditation of Musical Theatre programs nationwide and continues to evolve to meet the challenges of our ever-changing industry. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the discipline through teaching, coaching of performances, masterclasses, and other related departmental and professional activities. They will serve as an integral member of the Musical Theatre Department, combining high-level instruction and thought leadership towards the advancement of pedagogy in accordance with the department’s artistic and academic mission. Job Overview The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), a nationally prominent comprehensive college for the performing and media arts, seeks an experienced educator of voice for a full-time Educator position, intended to begin August 15, 2026. Initial appointment is three (3) years, after which the faculty member is eligible for reappointment. Essential Functions Serve as teacher-in-residence for musical theatre voice. Teach 1:1 applied voice lessons to first- and second-year musical theatre students in the BFA Musical Theatre program. Serve as a vocal coach for Musical Theatre productions and special events. Serve as a faculty advisor, mentoring students in their course trajectory and career preparation. Adjudicate departmental performance exams. Collaborate on season planning and other related projects as assigned by the chair of Musical Theatre. Provide artistic leadership and contribute to the long-term vision of vocal training in Musical Theatre and the department at large. Recruit and retain students of exceptional promise. Maintain regional and national visibility in the field through professional performance and/or teaching. Stay connected to industry practice through the pursuit of professional development and creative opportunities in the field. Serve the college and university community through activities such as committee membership, academic advising, and mentorship of students. Minimum Requirements Prior to the effective date of the appointment, the successful candidate must have: A Bachelor’s degree in Musical Theatre, Voice, or a closely related field. A minimum of five (5) academic years of teaching experience that demonstrates expertise in musical theatre vocal styles and complimentary disciplines including classical and/or contemporary-commercial vocal pedagogy. This teaching experience must include a minimum of three (3) academic years of teaching at the university level OR teaching professional performers. A minimum of five (5) academic years of professional experience performing. This professional experience can, but need not, be contemporaneous to the candidate’s teaching experience. Physical Requirements/Work Environment- Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
