Job Summary
The Assistant Director is a leadership position responsible for one or more programs and services within the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging (COAAA). This role provides direct supervision to Clinical Supervisors and other management-level staff, ensuring quality service delivery, program compliance, and alignment with the agency’s mission to support individuals, older adults, people with disabilities, and their caregivers. The Assistant Director collaborates with agency leadership to set strategic priorities, guide program operations, and foster an organizational culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Primary Responsibilities
- Program Oversight & Leadership: Provide leadership and operational oversight of assigned program(s), ensuring they meet regulatory, contractual, and quality standards. Supervise Clinical Supervisors and other management staff, offering guidance, mentoring, and performance management. Monitor service delivery outcomes, quality measures, and client satisfaction across assigned programs.
- Strategic Planning & Implementation: Contribute to the development and implementation of agencywide strategic initiatives and program goals. Identify opportunities for program enhancement, efficiency, and growth. Lead change management efforts to adapt programs to evolving community needs and regulatory requirements.
- Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure programs operate in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including Medicaid waiver, aging services, and health-related program requirements. Oversee audits, monitoring visits, and corrective action plans, ensuring readiness and compliance. Promote continuous quality improvement through data analysis, program evaluation, and best practice integration.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a liaison between COAAA leadership, community partners, providers, and funders. Represent the agency on committees, task forces, and community initiatives. Foster strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance service coordination and impact.
- Personnel Leadership & Development: Provide leadership development and succession planning for supervisory staff. Support staff training initiatives to ensure clinical and operational best practices are consistently applied. Encourage a supportive, inclusive, and mission-driven work environment.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 2 years of supervisory experience in aging services, healthcare, social services, or related field.
- 5 years of experience in aging services, healthcare, social services, case management, or related field.
- Requires an active LSW or RN licensure.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of Medicaid, long-term care services, and community-based aging programs.
- Demonstrated skills in leadership, strategic planning, quality management, and program evaluation.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex, fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions
- Traditional office environment with standard business hours.
- Occasional remote work may be approved as needed.
- Some local travel may be required for meetings or trainings.
- May require extended hours to meet operational needs.
