Industrial Electrical Controls Project Engineer

About the role

At PPG’s Circleville, OH facility, you’ll be the go-to engineer guiding complex automation and power projects from concept through commissioning. Reporting to the Engineering Services Manager, you’ll translate ideas into engineered solutions, keep projects on time and on budget, and ensure safe, reliable operations for our Resin Plant.

A day in the life

• Meet with operations, maintenance, and contractors to shape a project’s vision into a practical control system architecture that both technical and non-technical stakeholders can understand.
• Build scopes of work, solicit and evaluate engineering/construction bids, prepare ACT requests, and schedule planned outages to minimize production impact.
• Oversee field work during construction and support startups—verifying PLC logic, HMI screens, instrumentation, and power distribution are functioning as designed.
• Own the schedule and budget: set realistic milestones, track spending from concept to commissioning, report trends, and adjust plans to stay within authorized limits.
• Jump in when issues arise—assist with diagnosing operational problems and troubleshooting maintenance challenges.
• Lead upgrades and installations across process control systems, infrastructure, plant power distribution, and associated utilities in the Resin Plant.
• Create and roll out operating procedures and training programs to elevate maintenance and operations team capabilities.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA PSM, TS16949, and environmental permitting requirements.

What you’ll bring

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of experience with controls/DCS/PLC in an industrial environment.
• Hands-on Allen-Bradley PLC programming and process instrumentation experience—or the drive to learn quickly.
• Bonus points for experience with GE Proficy iFIX SCADA, HMI, and historian software.
• Exceptional problem solving, the ability to conceptualize end-to-end systems, and clear communication with audiences from the plant floor to leadership.
