Make an Impact as a Paraprofessional!
The NewPath School Based Paraprofessional plays a vital role in the success of each client. The Paraprofessional is responsible for the classroom assistance and supervision of children in our NewPath School. The children in our program are suffering from childhood trauma with resulting behavioral health challenges. The Paraprofessional ensures that each child's basic life, educational and emotional needs are provided for.

What You Will Be Doing
- Provide active, constant supervision in a classroom setting supporting the teacher and providing educational guidance.
- When school is not in session, you will work on the unit interacting with the program youth during all aspects of the daily routine.
- Implement, enforce, and adhere to programmatic rules while assisting youth with understanding the rules and expectations during class time.
- Provide a safe therapeutic environment for the children in our care at all times.
- Actively engage in school and group as well as implementing activities during free time.
- Teach, demonstrate, and role model appropriate behavior management, problem solving, and coping techniques.
- Interact and engage with youth and families in a trauma-responsive and trauma informed manner.
- Teach, demonstrate and model appropriate behavioral management, problem solving, and coping techniques to youth.
- Support the philosophy of fostering independence and productivity in youth.
- Deliver culturally competent services to youth.
- Complete all required documentation prior to end of shift.
What You Bring To The Table
- High School diploma or equivalent, plus 5 years of experience with high-risk youth with mental health disorders required.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least 6 months of experience working with high-risk youth with mental health disorders preferred.
- Current Educational Aide Certificate preferred.
- Previous work experience in serving at risk youth.
- Experience in education setting preferred.
- A willingness and comfort level in providing community-based services to a diverse population of clients.
- Ability to handle physical activities, including recreational activities.
- Must be at least 21 years of age; have a valid driver's license, proof of current automobile insurance and a clean driving record with no more than 5 points.
- Successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check, drug screen, physical and TB test.
