Ore Dock Machinist
Qualified Rate : $34.5 Per hour

Job Summary
The Ore Dock Machinist is responsible for repairing and replacement of different components, and equipment for the Ore Docks. Additionally, the incumbent maintains andprovides safeconditions and operation of machinist equipment and fixtures as well as systems in the docks.
Major Responsibilities
· Workingknowledge ofsteelstructures to preform installation,maintenance repair and replace as needed.
· Mustpossess theabilitytoweld1inchplatewithbackingforverticalandoverheadwelding
· Completemachinistworkorderrequeststhroughtheworkordersystem
· Must be ableto fabricateanduseburningequipment such asarc, airandburningtorches
· Mustbeabletoreadblueprints.
· Must haveknowledgeof hydraulics,andbeableto readhydraulic schematics, be able touse measuring equipment such as flow meters and pressure gauges.
· Must understandthe basics ofgear reduction, alignment ofcouplings, removal and installation of bearingsand couplings within specifications
· Beabletoreadandunderstandtechnicalservicemanuals
· EnsureasafeworkingenvironmentbyfollowingCN'ssafetypoliciesandprocedures

· Maintainwork schedule according totheCollective Bargaining Agreement(CBA), which includes irregular hours, nights, weekends, and holidays
· The roleisoccasionallyperformedinconfinedspacesatelevatedheights
· Theincumbentwilloftenbend,squat,kneel,lift,twist,climb,reach,stand,andwalk throughout shift
· Use ofhandsforrepetitivepushing,pulling,andsinglegraspmotions
Requirements
· HighschooldiplomaorequivalentGeneralEducationDiploma(GED)
· ValidDriver'sLicense
· PreferredVocationaltrainingofminimumof2years.
· MustsuccessfullycompleteCNstrainingcoursesuponhire
· Provenabilitytoperformmaintenanceanddiagnosticservicesonequipment malfunctions, and complete repairs when required
· Provenabilitytocompletetheinstallation,modificationandrepairofvarious components and equipment, as required.
· Abletointerpret hydraulicschematics,applybuildingplansandperform installation from blueprints, and engineering drawings
· GoodEnglishcommunicationskills(written,oral,reading,comprehension)
· Collaborateswithothersandsharesinformation
· Identifiespotentialsafetyandsecurityrisks
· Basiccomputerknowledge
Training
Theincumbentreceiveson-the-job training,whichincludesnewemployeesafetytraining, hands-ontrainingtolearnhow to operate thevarious systems atthedocks, andongoing annual safety training.
This position is a unionized position ._ As such, _pay and benefits are governed by the applicable collective agreement. The hourly wage for this role is 34.50/hour.
