CAD Technician

Precision Steel Services, a leading steel supplier in the Midwest since 1974, is seeking a dedicated CAD Technician to join our team. We pride ourselves on our commitment to quality, manufacturing all our products in the USA and providing the backbone to manufacturing in our community. As a CAD Technician, you will work with minimal to moderate supervision to produce CAD shop drawings, CNC part and nesting files, providing crucial documentation for our production shop.

Responsibilities

• Develop CAD drawings from order documents with limited engineering oversight.
• Collaborate with sales department, shop supervisors, and customers to gather reference information for drawings and orders.
• Translate and electronically transfer CAD drawings.
• Create 2D CAD drawings independently from customer supplied 2D/3D CAD files, electronic digitized drawings, hand sketches, or part descriptions.
• Create CNC programs for orders to supply to burn tables using industry specific CAD software.
• Revise, modify, and update existing drawings and notes regarding design and order changes.
• Check and verify orders are typed accurately and correct accordingly.
• Maintain customer notes, drawing calculations and other drawing specific documentation for future use and reference.
• Assist sales department with converting 3D files to 2D and printing drawings with overall dimensions and other needed information to quote the part properly.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs and basic computer skills.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and various drawings.
• High school or college CAD program experience with the basic knowledge of CAD standards and practices.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• US Work Authorization required.
• At least one year of experience with AutoCAD and CAD preferred.
• Previous ProNest and Solid Edge understanding is helpful.
