Wire EDM Machinist, Precision Components

Location: Beachwood, Ohio
Schedule: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

A Day in the Life

You start your shift in a clean, climate-controlled shop, reviewing the day’s work orders and blueprints. You set up a wire EDM cell, load tooling, and confirm the program aligns with the engineering print and GD&T. You thread the wire, set offsets, and run the first article—verifying features with micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gauges. Throughout the run, you watch the process, adjust as needed, document results, and keep the station organized and 5S-ready. When something’s off—a finish, a dimension, a break—you troubleshoot methodically and collaborate with engineering and quality to keep production flowing.

What You’ll Do

• Set up and operate wire EDM equipment to meet engineering drawings, specifications, and job requirements
• Monitor operations for accuracy, consistency, and process control
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and tight tolerance callouts
• Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measurement tools
• Troubleshoot machine, setup, and process issues to maintain throughput
• Conduct routine machine maintenance and flag potential issues early
• Maintain complete and accurate production and inspection records
• Partner with engineering, quality, and production to resolve challenges
• Support continuous improvement, organization, and 5S initiatives across the shop

Experience Required

• Hands-on experience setting up and running wire EDM in a manufacturing environment
• Proficiency reading technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T
• Ability to inspect your own work with precision tools
• Comfort holding tight tolerances and following detailed processes
• Ability to independently troubleshoot basic machining and process issues
• Experience working safely with coolants, oils, and dielectric fluids
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a hands-on production environment
• Must meet U.S. person requirements due to export-controlled work

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in aerospace, defense, medical device, or other regulated manufacturing
• Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar quality systems
• Exposure to additional machining processes or manufacturing equipment
• Technical training, apprenticeship, or certification in machining/manufacturing
