Job Title: Transportation Assistant (International Programs)

Department: Administration

Reports to: Human Resources

Start Date : May - September

Salary: $13/hr, up to 4 hours per week (one day per week)

Position Summary

The Transportation Assistant (International Programs) is responsible for safely transporting international students to and from designated locations while supporting their overall experience at Lakeside. This role plays a key part in welcoming students, ensuring reliable mobility, and serving as a friendly, supportive resource as students navigate the community and surrounding area.

Work Schedule and Term

  • Seasonal position(May-September)
  • Designated work day(s) as discussed and agreed to by both Human Resources and the Transportation Assistant.
  • Up to 4 hours per week (subject to increase or decrease on an as needed basis dependent on international student’s needs and vehicle availability)
  • May require occasional evening and/or weekend availability based on student transportation needs
  • Schedule may vary week-to-week depending on arrivals, departures, and program activities
  • Advance notice will be provided when additional hours are needed whenever possible

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safely transport international students to and from designated locations, mainly to the grocery store for essential items, but can also include airports, bus stations, housing, and program-related activities as approved by the Human Resources department.

  • Provide a welcoming and supportive experience for international students upon arrival, helping them feel comfortable and oriented to the Lakeside community.

  • Assist with basic wayfinding and orientation, including pointing out key campus and community resources.

  • Maintain clear and timely communication with students, program coordinators, and supervisors regarding transportation schedules and needs.

  • Ensure vehicles are operated safely and responsibly, following all traffic laws and organizational policies.

  • Conduct basic vehicle checks (fuel level, cleanliness, general condition) and report any maintenance issues promptly.

  • Adjust transportation schedules, with approval from Human Resources, as needed to accommodate changes in student arrivals, departures, and program activities.

  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when interacting with students and handling sensitive information.

  • Be flexible and available to assist with occasional evening and weekend transportation needs as required.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the success of the international program.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

  • Ability to be approved as an authorized driver and covered under Lakeside’s insurance policies.
  • Must meet all organizational and insurance requirements for operating company vehicles.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and commitment to safe driving practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations, including international students.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to adhere to a flexible schedule based on transportation needs.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age (or as required by insurance guidelines)

Work Environment

  • Location: Lakeside, Ohio and surrounding areas

  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including heat, humidity, and occasional rain.
  • Regular driving is required, with time spent operating company vehicles on local roads and highways.
  • Interaction with international students occurs frequently, requiring a friendly, professional, and service-oriented approach.
  • Schedule may vary and include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays based on transportation needs.
  • Position may require periods of standing, walking, and light lifting (e.g., assisting with student items or groceries).

Compensation

$13 per hour, for up to 4 hours per week (can be adjusted with approval from Human Resources and/or CEO/CAO
