DSP: Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide essential assistance to individuals with disabilities and those requiring long-term care. This role is crucial in enhancing the quality of life for our clients by offering support in daily activities, fostering independence, and ensuring their safety and well-being. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to caregiving and a genuine desire to make a positive impact in the lives of others.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
• Provide patient observation to monitor health and behavioral changes, reporting any concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation, particularly for those in memory care or hospice settings.
• Support individuals with physical tasks that may involve heavy lifting or mobility assistance.
• Foster a supportive environment by encouraging independence while providing necessary assistance.
• Maintain accurate documentation of services provided and any changes in client status.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to ensure comprehensive care plans are followed.
• Uphold the dignity and respect of each individual while promoting their rights and preferences.

Requirements

• Previous experience in caregiving or direct support roles is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with working with individuals with disabilities or in long-term care settings is advantageous.
• Strong observational skills to effectively monitor client needs and respond appropriately.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting as required for client mobility assistance.
• Compassionate demeanor with excellent interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and their families.
• Knowledge of hospice care practices is a plus but not mandatory.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends if necessary.
• Drivers License
• DSP Certification (Company will assist with getting proper licenses)
• CRP Certification (Company will assist with getting proper licenses)
