Composites Shop Manager:
At LifeFormations is a hands-on role, responsible for leading the plastics team in the fabrication of custom scenic elements, figures, and other sculptural elements. This role requires strong technical knowledge of composite materials and fabrication processes, combined with proven leadership and coordination skills.

• Manage and oversee daily operations within the plastics department, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality output.
• Lead fabrication of elements involving molding, casting, and preparation for assembly.
• Translate technical drawings and/or design intent into high-fidelity fabricated components, collaborating closely with design and project management.
• Collaborate with other departments (sculpt, fit up, welding) to successfully integrate cast parts into full builds.
• Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot shop equipment and ensure preventive maintenance is performed regularly.
• Mentor, supervise, and train fabricators in best practices for molding and casting materials like silicone, fiberglass, and urethane/epoxy resins.
• Oversee material sourcing, usage tracking, and inventory management.
• Ensure all work complies with LifeFormations’ quality standards, project schedules, and safety protocols.

Additional Responsibilities may include one or more of the following:

• Travel on installs (rarely).
• Attend meetings for project/production kickoffs and scheduling.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of hands-on plastics fabrication experience, preferably in themed entertainment or scenic production.
• 3+ years in a leadership or supervisory role in a fabrication shop.
• Proven expertise with composites processes including mold making, FRP lamination, urethane casting, silicone casting and seaming, bonding, adhesives, and surface finishing techniques (bodywork).
• Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and technical specs.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead a team and prioritize tasks under tight deadlines.
• A detail-oriented multitasker. Must have great communication skills and the ability to easily adapt to changing circumstances.
• Experience with both electric and pneumatic hand power tools, including HVLP spray guns.
• Working knowledge of mechanical hardware and fasteners, metal fabrication (e.g. grinding & welding), and mechanical assembly.
• Driver’s license required.
• High school diploma required.

This position is hands-on and full-time; must have flexibility in your schedule to allow for extended hours as needed on a project-by-project basis

Compensation:

• Competitive pay and benefits package, including health coverage, paid time off, and potential for bonuses.
• Salary commensurate with experience; range of 55-70k per year.
