STUDENT TRAINEE (HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT)
Duties
This position is temporary and has a Not-to-Exceed date. However, this position may be extended to the fullest legally allowable period without further competition. DUTY 1: Performs selected tasks and phases of routine studies and projects that require application of basic occupational field theory and principles in the technical area of position classification. DUTY 2: Participates with senior personnel in conducting non-routine projects. DUTY 3: Provides assistance in planning, monitoring, and conducting special studies, projects, and initiatives.

- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Must be enrolled at least half-time at a qualiflying accredited institution
- Must sign a Participant Agreement
- U.S. citizen or national (resident of American Samoa or Swains Island)
- Must be eligible to work under U.S. immigration laws
- Males 18 years or older must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal and Regulatory Guidance
- You must be a student currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
- Accepted for enrollment or enrolled in an approved program
- Enrollment must be at least half-time course load as defined by the education institution (typically six hours or equivalent for undergraduate and three hours or equivalent for graduate)
- Meet the qualification standards of the position
- May be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft in the performance of official duties.
- The actual work performed in this position has been reviewed and determined that it does not meet any of the exemption criteria defined in 5 CFR 551. This position has been designated as nonexempt.

- This position may require drug testing and the candidate may be subject to passing a drug test upon selection.
- Selectee is expected to be granted with and/or maintain the appropriate security clearance required for the position.
- This position is established under the provisions of the Pathways Program. Pathway Intern Students are required to follow guidelines of the Pathway Intern Program.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the generalized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Student Trainee Positions. Failure to submit transcripts, proof of acceptance or current enrollment in an accredited college/university will result in an ineligible rating. Qualifications for Student Trainee GS-04 : Completion of 60 semester hours or more of post high school study leading towards a qualifying degree in the field of business (i.e. associate's, bachelor's, master's, etc.) KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of basic occupational theory, principles, concepts, and practices in the technical area of Human Resources. 2. Skill in applying basic occupational theory, principles, concepts, and practices sufficient to perform student trainee assignments. 3. Ability to follow instructions and guidance to complete assigned tasks and communicate information to others in oral or written format. 4. Ability to analyze problems, identify significant factors, gather and interpret pertinent data, and apply established rules and procedures in order to recommend effective solutions. 5. Ability to learn and apply basic investigative techniques to accomplish work in Human Resources. 6. Ability to gather and analyze basic facts, information, and data, and draw conclusions.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE : Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE : Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. PLEASE NOTE : This is not a developmental opportunity; this position may be filled at the GS-04 level. The individual selected for this position may be considered for promotion to a higher grade without further competition upon meeting all legal and regulatory/program requirements.
Education
This position has an education requirement. You MUST provide transcripts or Official Letter of Enrollment to support your educational claims.
