Tool Crib Attendant
This is a 2nd shift position.
Position Summary
The Tool Crib Attendant is responsible for managing, organizing, and preparing tooling and equipment required for manufacturing operations. This role ensures that tooling kits are prepared accurately and on time for upcoming job set-ups, maintains tooling inventory, inspects tooling for wear and damage, and supports continuous production by ensuring the availability of quality tooling. The Tool Crib Attendant also serves as a backup to the Tow Motor Operator as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Prepare and issue complete tooling kits for scheduled production jobs and machine set-ups.
· Rebuild tap holders, drill units, tap units, hydraulic motors, and other machine support repairs.
· Organize and maintain machine fixturing inventory to ensure tooling availability.
· Inspect tooling for wear, damage, and usability, removing and replacing worn or defective tools as necessary.
· Restock tooling and consumable inventory and support replenishment activities.
· Clean, inspect and properly store cutting tools and fixturing.
· Work closely with production, scheduling, and setup personnel to ensure tooling requirements are met.
· Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages or purchasing needs to management.
· Assist with tooling audits and continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory management and tooling efficiency.
· Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
· Serve as the backup Tow Motor Operator, including transporting materials and supporting material handling activities as required.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, tool crib, or inventory management environment preferred.
· High level of mechanical aptitude to support repair activities.
· Experience operating forklifts or tow motors preferred (or ability to obtain certification).
· Basic computer skills and experience with inventory tracking systems.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
· Good communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds on a regular basis.
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday.
· Ability to operate material handling equipment safely.
· Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Knowledge of manufacturing tooling and inventory control practices.
· Ability to read and interpret work orders, tooling lists, and production schedules.
· Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.
· Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
