Software engineer
Job Description
At Oracle we are building a premier health data platform with intelligent services, tackling many interesting technical challenges along the way. As part of this team, your work will accelerate several architectural efforts: increasing data processing by orders of magnitude; decreasing end-to-end latency; powering the creation of comprehensive patient health records that can scale to populations of entire nations; creating a health data lake at massive scale to enable a host of intelligent health services. Healthcare applications are mission critical: our systems are held to the highest standards of availability and disaster recovery capability. We will leverage the strengths of Oracle Cloud and build software that leverages OCI services.
We're looking for a skilled and ambitious engineer to help build and maintain high-scale, cloud-based data processing systems that can handle massive amounts of data with low latency. This role will support critical data ingestion systems, strengthening and maintaining data processing pipelines that feed critical health applications. You will implement, test, optimize, and deliver software for our customers and continue supporting the software in production.
Responsibilities

Participate in the entire software lifecycle, from design to development, quality assurance, deployment, and support.

Maintain best engineering and operational practices to ensure our software quality bar is high.

Participate and contribute to design discussions to build distributed, scalable, and fault-tolerant software systems.

Implement and build cloud services using OCI infrastructure.

Optimize data processing pipelines to increase throughput and decrease latency.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree required
-
Hands on experience writing code with modern procedural programming languages such as Java, C#, C/C++, or Ruby.

Familiarity with distributed systems.

Experience with production operations and good practices for releasing quality troubleshooting issues when they arise.

Effective communication of technical ideas verbally and in writing, including technical proposals, design specs, architecture diagrams, and presentations.

Ability to collaborate effectively with the team and other stakeholders.

Production experience with high volume data applications preferred.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $73,700 to $158,200 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
