Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of complex industrial, electrical, and mechanical equipment. The primary goal is to ensure all machinery operates efficiently and safely, minimizing downtime and supporting overall production goals. This role involves a combination of preventative maintenance, routine inspections, and emergency repairs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preventative Maintenance:
- Perform routine inspections and diagnostic tests on machinery and equipment.
- Clean, lubricate, and adjust equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Follow established maintenance schedules and procedures.
- Maintain detailed and accurate maintenance logs and reports.
- Repair and Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic problems using various diagnostic tools.
- Disassemble and reassemble machinery to access and repair or replace defective parts.
- Perform emergency repairs to quickly restore equipment to working order.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics to understand equipment controls and operation.
- Installation and Upgrades:
- Install new machinery and equipment, ensuring proper setup and calibration.
- Modify and upgrade existing equipment to improve performance and meet new production requirements.
- Collaborate with engineers and production staff during equipment installation and commissioning.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Identify and report potential safety hazards.
- Inventory Management:
- Maintain an inventory of spare parts and supplies.
- Place orders for new parts as needed to ensure a readily available stock for repairs.
- Training and Collaboration:
- Train production workers on routine maintenance and machine safety procedures.
- Work effectively as part of a team, communicating clearly with managers, engineers, and other technicians.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent is required. An associate degree or certification in a related field (e.g., Industrial Maintenance Technology, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology) is preferred.
- Experience: Proven experience as an industrial maintenance technician, mechanic, or in a related role.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Experience with a variety of hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and other control systems is a plus.
- Soft Skills:
- Problem-Solving: The ability to methodically diagnose and resolve complex issues under pressure.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous in work and record-keeping to ensure accuracy and safety.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to handle the physical demands of the job, including standing for long periods, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs., and working in various environments.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to report findings and coordinate with team members.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to a changing work environment and handle a variety of tasks.
Work Environment:
Manufacturing plant setting.
Work Location: In person
Hours: Monday through Friday, 7am-3:30pm
