We're looking for professionals who enjoy solving problems, working collaboratively, and contributing to successful project delivery.

About the Position

The Project Engineer provides essential support to Project Managers by helping coordinate construction projects through every phase of the project lifecycle. This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone beginning their career in construction management while gaining exposure to planning, documentation, scheduling, field coordination, and project administration.

What You'll Do

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, and coordination efforts.
  • Manage project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and contract records.
  • Review construction plans, specifications, and project documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate with field personnel, consultants, subcontractors, and project managers to maintain project progress.
  • Help prepare daily logs, progress reports, and project status updates.
  • Participate in project meetings and document action items.
  • Support quality assurance activities and assist with project closeout documentation.
  • Monitor schedules and communicate potential risks, delays, or conflicts.
  • Promote compliance with project specifications, safety requirements, and company procedures.
  • Provide administrative and technical support throughout the construction process.
Qualifications

We're looking for candidates who have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Architecture, or a closely related discipline.
  • Knowledge of commercial construction practices, materials, and building systems.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, technical specifications, and contract documents.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with project teams in both office and field environments.
Preferred Experience

Candidates with any of the following are encouraged to apply:

  • One or more years of construction experience (internships and co-op experience are welcome).
  • Familiarity with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar platforms.
Compensation & Benefits

CSS offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications.
  • Medical and dental insurance options.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions.
  • Paid vacation, holidays, and personal time.
  • Professional development, continuing education, and training opportunities.
  • Long-term career growth within a collaborative construction management team.
Work Environment

This role combines office responsibilities with periodic visits to active construction sites. Candidates should be comfortable:

  • Walking construction sites and navigating uneven terrain.
  • Climbing stairs and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Occasionally lifting or carrying materials weighing up to 25 pounds.

If you're looking to grow your construction management career while working on meaningful projects that serve government and commercial clients nationwide, we'd like to hear from you.
