Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Location: Columbus, OH 43205 (Ohio healthcare jobs)
• Facility Type: Pediatric Hospital (CORE team, PICU, NICU, and additional units as needed)
• Employment Type: Travel Contract (respiratory therapist travel jobs)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (September 15, 2025 – December 15, 2025)
• Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts per week (19:00 – 07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Orientation: 36 hours
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2250 - $2310
• Patient Population: Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents
• Unit Size: 44 beds, average daily census of 32

Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in a pediatric hospital setting
• Experience in Level III or IV NICU required (NICU respiratory therapist experience)
• Active Ohio State RRT license (must be in hand at time of application)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certifications required
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Must provide 2 professional references (at least one from a manager or supervisor)
• Willingness to float between CORE, PICU, NICU, ED, Pulmonary, and general floors as needed
• Cannot have been a permanent employee at this facility within the past 2 years
• No local candidates (must reside outside a 60-mile radius of Columbus, OH)

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality respiratory care to neonatal, pediatric, and adolescent patients, including those with complex cardiac and pulmonary conditions
• Perform advanced respiratory procedures: ABG interpretation, aerosol therapy, BiPAP/CPAP/Nasal CPAP, extubation, intubation assist, tracheostomy care, and more
• Operate specialized respiratory equipment such as Servo-U ventilators, HFOV 3100 A/B, SiPAP, Ikaria Nitric Oxide, and others
• Float between assigned units to support patient care throughout the hospital
• Accurately document care using the Epic electronic health record system
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient care
• Participate in on-call and weekend coverage as scheduled
