Status: Nonexempt/Part-time, As Needed

Shifts: Evenings and weekends, based on event schedule

Wage: $14.50-$21 per hour + $3.00/hour shift differential; commensurate with experience/certifications

The Taft Museum of Art in downtown Cincinnati is seeking a part-time Event Security Associate to support after-hours events. This role requires a positive, organized team player with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Position Summary

The Event Security Associate ensures the safety and security of guests, staff, contractors, vendors, collections, exhibitions, and museum property during after-hours events. This role reports directly to the Manager of Security and requires sound judgment, adherence to established priorities, and a commitment to providing an exceptional and welcoming experience for all visitors and staff.


Core Responsibilities

  • Escort vendors and contractors for deliveries and pickups.
  • Operate the freight elevator.
  • Check vendors and contractors in and out.
  • Maintain the safety and security of guests, staff, contractors, vendors, collections, exhibitions, and museum assets during events.
  • Communicate safety information and museum etiquette to staff, vendors, volunteers, and visitors in a professional and positive manner.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to facility emergencies.
  • Conduct or assist with fire and emergency evacuations.
  • Stand post and/or patrol museum buildings and grounds to ensure safety and security.
  • Identify and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaks, unsecured doors or windows, or other concerns.
  • Regulate vehicle and pedestrian traffic at the museum entrance to support orderly operations.
  • Deliver excellent guest service throughout the museum.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma, GED, or National Career Readiness Certificate required.
  • Prior experience in museum, zoo, aquarium, library, or cultural property security preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred, or willingness to obtain.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Experience with electronic security systems (CCTV, access control, etc.) preferred.
  • Physical requirements: Ability to move quickly throughout the building; climb ladders and stairs; operate lifts; respond rapidly to alarms; and assist where needed. Must be able to sit, stand, and patrol for extended periods; bend, stoop, reach overhead; lift up to 50 pounds; and work indoors and outdoors.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license required.
  • Must speak English and communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
