Childcare Administrator Job Description

In His Care Early Education Program (IHCEEP) is looking for an Early Childcare Administrator that will be responsible for overseeing the daycare facility and programs to ensure that children have a safe and fun environment to learn and socialize with others. Each day you will have the pleasure to create a safe, healthy, structured, and nurturing environment. Your customer service skills will be used to bond with the children, and families while maintaining professional relationships with your staff and communicating effectively with parents.
Key Responsibilities
1. Staff Management
- Oversee hiring, training, and scheduling of all childcare staff members.
- Ensure that all staff meet the educational and professional development requirements as outlined in Ohio childcare regulations (e.g., maintaining relevant credentials such as the Administrator Credential 2, CPL 3)(SUTQ_Program_Standards)(Appendix_A_to_rule_2-17…).
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide professional development opportunities to maintain high standards of childcare(5101: 2-12-01_20211029).
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of staff credentials and training(Appendix_A_to_rule_2-17…).
2. Center Operations and Audits
- Oversee the daily operations of the center, ensuring a clean, safe, and engaging environment for children.
- Conduct regular audits of the center (daily, weekly, and as needed) to ensure compliance with health, safety, and state licensing requirements(Appendix_A_to_rule_2-17…).
- Ensure that all areas of the center comply with ratio requirements and group sizes as per the gold rating standards for quality(SUTQ_Program_Standards)(Appendix_A_to_rule_2-17…).
3. Family and Child Communication
- Establish and maintain open lines of communication with families regarding their child's progress, concerns, and center updates.
- Manage enrollment, orientation, and transitions of children into the program(SUTQ_Program_Standards)(Appendix_A_to_rule_2-17…).
- Oversee family engagement activities, including educational workshops and follow-ups on family resource needs(SUTQ_Program_Standards)(Appendix_A_to_rule_2-17…).
4. Student and Staff Record Management
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of student assessments, lesson plans, and individual learning plans(SUTQ_Program_Standards)(Appendix_A_to_rule_2-17…).
- Manage student records, including health screenings, assessments, and referrals. Ensure that screening results and any identified needs are communicated to families and followed up within set timeframes(Appendix_A_to_rule_2-17…).
- Maintain confidentiality of all records in compliance with state and federal laws.
5. Compliance and Licensing
- Ensure compliance with Ohio's childcare licensing standards and Step Up to Quality (SUTQ) program requirements(SUTQ_Program_Standards)(5101: 2-12-01_20211029).
- Stay updated on new regulations and implement necessary adjustments in center policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain the center’s Continuous Improvement Plan, setting annual goals for program enhancement based on staff, family input, and community partnerships(SUTQ_Program_Standards)(Appendix_A_to_rule_2-17…).
- Develop and maintain the center’s plan moving toward achieving accreditation (NAEYC Higher Education Accreditation Standards). Develop the timeline for achieving.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of two years of experience in childcare management or administration.
- Administrator Credential 2 or CPL 3 certification required (as per Ohio guidelines)(Appendix_A_to_rule_2-17…).
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of state childcare regulations and licensing requirements(5101: 2-12-01_20211029).
· Work Authorization Required
· 3-5 years of Daycare Teacher Experience
· Active CPR Certification
· Child Development Associate Certification Preferred
· Knowledge of Step Up to Quality (SUTQ)
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to multi-task
· Strong problem-solving, creativity and flexibility
· BCI/FBI completed with no disqualifying offense as determined by IHCEEP or the State of Ohio for a Daycare Administrator
· Self-motivated and with an eye for detail
