The City of Miamisburg, Ohio is seeking a well-qualified local government leader as its next City Manager. Established in 1818, Miamisburg is located along the Great Miami River in southern Montgomery County near Dayton, offering a high quality of life with a rich history.

The Community

Miamisburg sits in southwest Ohio in the Miami Valley region, providing convenient access to shopping, services, entertainment and employment, while maintaining its small-town charm. The City covers about 12.5 square miles and features a balanced mix of residential development with planned green space.

The Organization

As a Home-Rule Charter City under Ohio law, Miamisburg retains broad control and latitude in managing City operations. Under the City Charter, the City Manager is responsible for appointing all positions in the organization except the Law Director, the Clerk of Council, and the Prosecutor.

Desirable Experience & Education

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in municipal general management, including finance, public works, personnel, public safety, planning, economic development and parks and recreation services.

A bachelor’s degree in public administration or related fields from an accredited college or university is required. A Master of Public Administration degree is desired. An ICMA Credentialed Manager (CM) designation would be considered a plus but is not required.

Role and Responsibilities

The City Manager serves as the chief executive, administrative, and law enforcement officer of the City and shall possess the skills to perform all duties outlined in the City Charter Section 5.04, including, but not limited to, appointment of personnel, preparation of the annual budget, serving as head of all city-owned public utilities, and performing such other duties as may be required by the Council.
