The Human Resources Manager serves as a trusted business partner to leadership while overseeing all aspects of human resources, employee relations, recruiting, compensation, benefits, compliance, and organizational development. Position Summary
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing all human resources functions while partnering closely with manufacturing leadership to support operational excellence. This role leads recruiting, employee engagement, performance management, compensation, compliance, HR systems, training, and employee relations while ensuring compliance with all federal and state employment regulations.
The ideal candidate enjoys working in a manufacturing environment, building strong relationships with employees at every level, solving problems, and creating programs that improve retention, engagement, and organizational performance.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resources Leadership
- Lead all Human Resources functions for the manufacturing operation.
- Partner with leadership to develop HR strategies that support company growth and operational objectives.
- Foster a positive, safe, and engaging workplace culture built on accountability, communication, and employee development.
- Ensure consistent application of company policies, procedures, and employee handbook guidelines.
Employee Relations & Leadership Support
- Serve as the primary advisor to managers on employee relations, coaching, performance management, investigations, corrective actions, and conflict resolution.
- Assist leaders in developing performance improvement plans and coaching strategies.
- Support employee engagement initiatives that improve morale, retention, and workplace satisfaction.
- Manage employee separations and oversee the exit interview process while identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
Talent Acquisition & Employee Development
- Lead recruiting efforts for manufacturing, production, and professional positions.
- Oversee onboarding, orientation, and new employee integration.
- Coordinate leadership development and management training programs covering interviewing, documentation, performance management, workplace safety, harassment prevention, and HR best practices.
- Partner with department managers to develop succession planning and workforce development initiatives.
Compensation, Benefits & HR Operations
- Administer competitive compensation programs that ensure internal equity and market competitiveness.
- Manage employee benefits administration and wellness initiatives.
- Oversee performance review processes to ensure consistency, fairness, and employee development.
- Maintain HRIS data integrity while managing employee records, reporting, promotions, transfers, and employment transactions.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and government reporting requirements.
- Maintain accurate HR metrics and reporting related to turnover, absenteeism, hiring, and workforce trends.
- Represent the organization during employment-related investigations and legal matters when necessary.
- Manage relationships with outside recruiting firms, consultants, and HR vendors.
Qualifications
Required
- Experience as an HR Manager, HR Business Partner, or senior Human Resources professional within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of employee relations, employment law, recruiting, compensation, benefits, and HR compliance.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and HR information systems.
- Ability to build trust and credibility with employees at all levels of the organization.
Preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience with HRIS systems, including Paylocity .
- Experience supporting production, manufacturing, or industrial operations.
