Description
The Mainframe & Services Developer for the Core Banking Team will work as part of the larger team to help in the design, development and testing of applications and API services that support Huntington's customers and colleagues, while helping to ensure consistency with company strategy and goals.
Detailed Description:
This role is an entry level position that requires the individual to have the aptitude to learn and to participate in the overall design, development, and testing of the team's project efforts.
To be successful the candidate must be driven and well-organized, with strong learning abilities. It is essential for the individual to be self-motivated and tenacious, thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, and complete tasks on agreed schedules. The team will look to this individual to assist in the production releases, perform research and aid in the resolution of production incident tickets and the completion of design and development activities.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Participate in the analysis and review of project requirements
- Participate in the design and review of technical design of component software features and API Services
- Develop technical solutions based upon user specifications and technology frameworks, in adherence with Huntington standards
- Modify existing software applications and API services as assigned
- Modify existing mainframe components of the core banking platforms
- Participate in the review of and Test Strategy deliverables
- Participate in code reviews and integration testing of solutions
- Participate in the debugging and resolution of issues found during testing
- Assist in the documentation and implementation of software programs and solutions
- Work with technical teams interfacing with assigned application
- Create and maintain system documentation, manuals, policy documents, etc.
- May lead small enhancement efforts and small projects
- Schedule and facilitate meetings as needed
- Research and analyze production support issues
- Actively communicate with users and team to provide technical support
- Participate with team to establish target dates and complete activities/deliverables under changing conditions
- Participate in production releases as scheduled
- Participate in the team's on-call rotation for application support
Basic Qualifications:
- 1 year of programming experience with a bachelor's degree (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, etc.) or equivalent transferable experience through coursework, internships, or work experience in lieu of participation in the Elevate Program
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong technical skills and a good understanding of software development principles and project lifecycles
- Strong business and technology aptitude with a willingness to learn and understand business and software solutions
- Excellent verbal and written communications; ability to explain project risks and issues, and IT related concepts clearly and concisely
- Highly motivated with strong organizational, analytical, decision making, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to build strong partnerships and to work collaboratively with all business and IT areas
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- High level of professionalism and confidence with the ability to build credibility with team members and business partners
- Works under significant supervision of a Solution Delivery Manager or technical lead
- A good understanding of project lifecycle methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, Iterative, Agile/Scrum) and project management processes and standards
- Technical writing capability
- Knowledge/understanding of database design schemas and data modeling
- Ability to translate technology into relatable concepts for business partners
- Experience with OS JCL, IBM Utilities, FileAid, and EZTrieve
- Experience with DB2, COBOL, SQL
- Experience YAML or Swagger
- Experience with SOAP UI
- Experience with Git, Jenkins, and/or Apigee
- Experience using SQL and Websphere
- Knowledge/Understanding of middleware and discovery technologies
