This 3rd shift CNC Machinist role focuses on operating machining equipment to produce high-quality parts to precise specifications. You will set up and run machines, perform adjustments to programs and tooling, verify product quality with measurement tools, and maintain accurate production and inventory records. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Operate machinery and move materials, either manually or using equipment, to machine parts according to pre-set programs and machine settings.
  • Interface with CNC machines to make simple and intermediate adjustments to settings, tools, and fixturing to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production.
  • Complete work in accordance with specifications, engineering drawings, job routings, and work instructions with limited or no assistance.
  • Use gages and measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, thread gages, and go / no-go gages, to verify that products meet all required specifications.
  • Recognize and report gage and calibration issues to appropriate personnel to maintain accurate inspection standards.
  • Maintain equipment, tooling, and materials necessary to complete machining operations, ensuring machines are properly set up and ready for production.
  • Meet established safety, quality, and performance standards so that production schedules and customer delivery requirements are consistently achieved.
  • Record accurate information on Manufacturing Orders, Quality Check Sheets, and other production paperwork, and perform system transactions to maintain correct records and inventory balances.
  • Comply with all applicable safety procedures, quality specifications, and 5S standards, and report adverse conditions, non-conforming products or procedures, and 5S violations according to escalation procedures.
  • Adhere to daily 5S standards by maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area and by recommending improvement initiatives.
  • Notify the team leader or other appropriate resource when issues arise related to safety, quality, equipment, operations, materials, inventory, or documentation, in accordance with escalation procedures.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by performing rotational assignments as needed and by learning to operate multiple types of machines.
  • Participate actively as a team member in continuous improvement activities to better meet customer needs and enhance operational performance.
  • Identify, escalate, and assist in resolving non-conforming processes, products, or environmental issues in the work area.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and leadership, both verbally and in writing, to support smooth operations and problem resolution.
Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Recommended minimum of 2 years of manufacturing or machine operation work experience, preferably in machining or CNC operation.
  • Hands-on experience with machining processes and CNC machinist duties.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions accurately.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand machine functions and cutting processes.
  • Solid mathematical competencies to perform measurements, conversions, and basic calculations required for machining.
  • Knowledge of metal or graphite cutting processes and related machining techniques.
  • Understanding and practical use of inspection gages, including calipers, micrometers, thread gages, go / no-go gages, and other measurement tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment and meet operational deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team as part of an agile and flexible workforce.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure product quality and accurate documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Ability to bend, squat, twist, and reach overhead as required by machining and material handling tasks.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders when accessing equipment or work areas.
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 25 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces when required by specific operations or equipment.
  • Comfort working on 3rd shift and adjusting to overnight hours.
  • Experience using a variety of gages and measuring equipment in a production environment.
  • Demonstrated capability to identify, escalate, and assist in resolving non-conforming process, product, or environmental issues.
  • Willingness to learn multiple types of machines and perform rotational assignments to support production needs.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized work area and following 5S and continuous improvement practices.

Work Environment

This role is on 3rd shift, working from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with a shift differential of $1.50 per hour. The position requires openness to weekend work, including Saturday and Sunday shifts two weekends per month, with double-time pay on Sundays when it is the seventh consecutive day worked. You will work in a manufacturing environment with CNC machines, metal and graphite cutting processes, and a variety of inspection gages such as calipers, micrometers, thread gages, and go / no-go gages. The facility emphasizes safety, quality, and 5S standards, with a strong focus on maintaining a clean, safe, and organized workspace. The work involves physical activity, including bending, squatting, twisting, reaching overhead, climbing stairs and ladders, lifting and carrying at least 25 pounds, and occasionally working in confined spaces. The environment is fast-paced and team-oriented, with continuous improvement activities and rotational assignments across different machines and operations.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00/hr.
