Director of Finance
The Director of Finance is a key member of the Executive Team and is responsible for the strategic leadership, stewardship, and integrity of the Jesuit Spiritual Center's financial resources. In collaboration with the Executive Director, the Director of Finance oversees financial planning, budgeting, accounting, reporting, internal controls, and human resources administration to ensure the Center's long-term financial sustainability. Working closely with staff, the Finance Committee, and the Board of Trustees, the Director of Finance promotes sound financial management, transparency, and responsible stewardship in support of the Center's Catholic, Jesuit mission.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND REGULAR ACTIVITIES
- Direct and oversee all financial operations of the Jesuit Spiritual Center, including accounting, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, banking, investments, reconciliations, cash management, and financial reporting.
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of all financial records, accounting practices, internal controls, and federal, state, and nonprofit reporting requirements.
- Prepare and present timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and analyses for the Executive Director, Finance Committee, and Board of Trustees.
- Monitor cash flow, financial performance, and organizational assets, including operating funds, restricted funds, endowment funds, and investments, identifying trends, opportunities, and potential risks.
- Coordinate the annual financial review and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and financial institutions.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director in developing the Center's annual operating and capital budgets and long-range financial plans.
- Monitor departmental budgets, provide variance analyses and financial guidance to department leaders, and support sound stewardship of financial resources.
- Provide financial analysis, forecasting, and recommendations to support strategic planning and informed organizational decision-making.
- Serve as staff liaison to the Finance Committee, collaborating with the Executive Director and Committee Chair to prepare agendas, reports, and supporting materials for committee and Board meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director and serve as an active member of the Executive Team in advancing the mission and strategic priorities of the Jesuit Spiritual Center.
BOARD AND COMMITTEE SUPPORT
- Serve as staff liaison to the Finance Committee.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and Finance Committee Chair in preparing agendas, financial reports, and supporting materials for Finance Committee meetings.
- Present financial information and recommendations to the Finance Committee and Board of Trustees as requested.
- Support the Board's fiduciary responsibilities through accurate, transparent, and timely reporting.
HUMAN RESOURCES AND ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
- Collaborate with the Executive Director in administering employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, workers' compensation, unemployment, and related benefit programs.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with employment laws, personnel policies, and payroll regulations.
- Support financial aspects of personnel administration, including payroll processing and benefit reconciliation.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND/OR ABILITIES
1. Practicing Catholic; familiarity and identification with the language and values of the Catholic Church- Understanding of or willingness to learn about Ignatian Spirituality and the Society of Jesus
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of accounting principles and best practices
- Works collaboratively with others in a team approach to ministry
- Self-motivated, flexible, ability to multi-task, and adaptable in a variety of work situations
- Ability to welcome and work with diverse groups and individuals (race, socioeconomic, religion, etc.)
- Knowledge of non-profit and "zero-balanced" budgeting methods and procedures
PREFERRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in finance or related field
- Archdiocese of Cincinnati SafeParish Certification
- Knowledge and ability to use various software, including QuickBooks, Office 365 products, and Donor Databases
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL WORK DEMANDS
- Standing or sitting for long periods of time
- Physical lifting
- Commitment to strict Confidentiality is the upmost importance
- 40 hours per week Monday - Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm, as well as some weekends when needed.
