Manufacturing Operations Supervisor (Extrusion & Lean)

Lead a safe, high-performing second shift

Join a stable, growth-minded manufacturer and guide a skilled hourly team through a productive 2nd shift. As the Manufacturing Operations Supervisor, you report to the Production Manager and own safety, quality, and throughput for your area while coaching, training, and allocating resources to meet plan.

Shift & schedule

2nd Shift Schedule: hours are typically 2:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with occasional weekends. Flexibility to work 40+ hours per week, other shifts, and weekends as needed.

What a day looks like

• Kick off with a huddle: confirm staffing, PPE, and housekeeping readiness; assign work; review KPIs and wired plant compliance metrics.
• Walk the lines: verify product sampling schedule adherence and that quality specs and SOPs are followed.
• Keep people safe: model proper PPE use, enforce forklift operation standards and preventive maintenance routines, and immediately escalate unsafe acts/conditions or injuries to the Production Manager.
• Keep production moving: troubleshoot mechanical/process issues, coordinate with Maintenance for repairs/adjustments, and expedite product changeovers.
• Build capability: train team members on safety, quality, job functions, and cross-training plans; maintain skills via company training programs.
• Close strong: complete shift production reports and all required paperwork; confirm lines meet or exceed efficiency targets and housekeeping expectations.

Core responsibilities

• Own safety, quality, and production performance for the assigned shift.
• Directly supervise, schedule, and train hourly employees.
• Allocate people and equipment daily to hit the plan and standard production efficiencies across all lines.
• Ensure product meets quality specifications and sampling requirements.
• Assist in the Preventive Maintenance program and follow forklift preventive maintenance schedules.
• Maintain compliance with wired plant metrics and facility housekeeping standards.
• Document results through accurate, timely shift production reporting.

What you bring

• Mechanical troubleshooting and basic repair aptitude.
• Leadership, supervision, training, and motivational skills.
• Solid decision-making and problem-solving; clear communication across all organizational levels.
• Foundational computer skills and manufacturing knowledge; extrusion experience is a plus.

Education & experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred: 1–2 years as a line operator or similar role, plus supervisory training/experience.
• English/Spanish bilingual ability is a plus.

Physical demands

• Stand and remain mobile for at least 8 continuous hours.
• Perform physical work for extended periods in temperature extremes.
• Use hands, arms, and legs to handle and transport finished goods.
• Full range of motion: twist, bend, reach, squat, and mount/dismount industrial equipment and vehicles.

Compensation & classification

Pay Range: $28-$38/hour, non-exempt with overtime.
