This role will be filled in a hybrid capacity, with in-office collaboration in our Columbus, OH office. This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the Stem OPT Extension program. The Retirement Solutions Technology team is looking for a motivated and engaged entry-level software developer to join our team supporting the reporting components of the DCdirect/RPLink record-keeping application. This application plays a key role in supporting our Retirement Solutions Line of Business.

What You'll Do
Collaborate with team members to design, develop, and deliver high-quality software solutions.
Learn and apply best practices, tools, and processes across various technical domains.
Assist in the development and implementation of IT solutions.
Troubleshoot and help resolve software issues with guidance from senior team members.

As a Software Engineer, you will focus primarily on providing high quality, efficient technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications. In this capacity, you'll code, configure, test, debug, document and maintain applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards and best practices.
Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.
Adopts continuous improvement and learning.
Handles project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables proactively.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Technology Manager/Director.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.
Experience: One or more years of technology experience.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proficiency of at least one programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript, etc. Knowledge of software development lifecycle. Good problem-solving skills. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.
Other criteria, such as competencies and experiences, may take precedence.
