We are a center dedicated to restoring and enhancing hearing through advanced implantable technologies, including cochlear implants (CIs) , bone conduction hearing devices (BCHDs) , and middle ear implants (MEIs) . Position: Part-Time Implant Audiologist
Location: Akron, Ohio Hours: 20-25 hours per week, 3 full days Reports to: HEARS, LLC
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a comprehensive range of clinical audiology services related to implantable devices:
- Candidacy Evaluation: Perform comprehensive audiological and electrophysiological assessments (e.g., ABR, ASSR, OAE) to determine candidacy for various implantable devices.
- Counseling: Provide in-depth pre- and post-operative counseling to patients and their families regarding device options, expectations, and care.
- Implant Activation & Mapping: Conduct initial activation, programming, and ongoing fine-tuning ( mapping ) of cochlear implants and other implantable processors.
- Troubleshooting: Address and resolve technical issues with implantable device hardware and software.
- Collaboration: Work closely with our surgeon, audiologists, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant patient records within our EHR system.
- Device Education: Stay current on the latest implantable technologies, fitting software, and best practices.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Education: Au.D. or Ph.D. in Audiology from an accredited university.
- Licensure: Current and valid state Audiology license in Ohio.
- Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from ASHA or equivalent (required/preferred).
- Experience: Clinical experience preferred, but training can be provided, with significant experience in cochlear implant and/or BCHD mapping and management.
- Skills: Proficiency with current implant manufacturer programming software (e.g., Cochlear, Advanced Bionics, MED-EL).
- Attributes: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, a high level of empathy, and meticulous attention to detail.
