Folding Carton Die-Cutting Press Operator

Step into a day on our pressroom floor

You arrive to a clean, well-organized converting area. The previous job is dismantled and logged — impressions, dates, press and chase numbers — and the next make-ready begins. You dial in the die cutter, align steel rule dies and counter plates, check stripping and blanking setups, and pull glued samples against CAD layouts and dielines. As the run accelerates, you monitor quality, measure tight tolerances, and keep the machine humming with minor adjustments and preventative maintenance. Safety, speed, and precision guide every move.

What you’ll handle

• Set up, adjust, and operate die-cutting equipment, including stripping and blanking processes.
• Dismantle prior jobs and manage dies (log saved jobs with impressions/date/press/chase; dispose as marked).
• Pull glued samples to verify cutting, scoring, and creasing accuracy to specifications.
• Continuously monitor press operation, troubleshoot, and correct issues to maintain total quality.
• Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs; keep equipment in optimal condition.
• Work safely and efficiently while contributing to a fast-paced, collaborative team.

What makes you successful here

• Background as a Die Cutting Operator or Die Cutting Pressman within printing, packaging, or folding carton.
• Hands-on with steel rule dies, counter plates, make-ready materials, and stripping/blanking tools.
• Knowledge of paperboard substrates (SBS, CCNB, Kraft, and others) and their impact on cut/score/crease.
• Ability to interpret job tickets, CAD layouts, dielines, and quality specs; deliver accurate make-readies with minimal supervision.
• Mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting on die-cutting equipment.
• Familiarity with Bobst, Heidelberg, or comparable machinery (preferred).
• Solid math skills with comfort measuring to tight tolerances; meticulous attention to detail and quality.
• Capacity to lift 50+ lbs, stand for extended periods, and thrive in a manufacturing setting.
• Positive, team-first mindset and strong work ethic.
