Job Purpose
Performance Academies seeks a high-energy, musically trained Elementary Music Teacher with training in the Kodaly pedagogical method to join a supportive and mission-driven educational community in the Columbus area. This full-time position serves students in grades K-2 across multiple school locations, with a long-term vision of expanding sequential music instruction through grades K-8 in the coming years.
The successful candidate will play a key role in establishing and strengthening a comprehensive, sequential music program grounded in Kodály principles, while helping cultivate a deep love of music, musical literacy, and joyful participation in the arts.
Job Description:- Provide high-quality music instruction to students in grades K-2 using the Kodaly pedagogical approach
- Implement developmentally appropriate, sequential music curriculum that builds strong foundational musical skills (singing, rhythm, solfege, literacy, and listening)
- Teach across multiple school sites within the Columbus area
- Plan and lead a minimum of two class performances per year and/or two building performances for parents and community members.
- Collaborate with school leadership and staff to support the gradual expansion of music programming through additional grade levels (K–8)
- Support the long-term development of additional music opportunities, including ensembles, performances, or enrichment programs as the program grows
- Maintain a positive, engaging, and energetic classroom environment
- Communicate effectively with administrators, teachers, and families regarding student progress and program goals
- Effectively manage program resources with allotted budget
- Plan and lead a minimum of two class performances per year and/or two building performances for parents and community members.

- Teach across multiple school sites within the Columbus area
- Plan and lead a minimum of two class performances per year and/or two building performances for parents and community members.
- Kodály Certification Level 1 (K–2)
- Candidates who do not yet hold certification must be willing to complete Kodály Level 1 training during Summer 2026 prior to the start of the school year
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a closely related field
- Current teaching license (preferred but not required)
- 3–5 years of teaching experience (new graduates with Kodály training or a strong commitment to Kodály training are encouraged to apply)
- Strong musicianship, including excellent singing skills and a solid understanding of child vocal development
- Experience teaching elementary-aged students
- Enthusiasm for building and growing a music program over time
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple school settings
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Strong ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data to make sound educational decisions.
- Work in a diverse educational setting and understand the community and student demographics.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer and other technology related components actively prioritize and execute tasks to meet deadlines consistently.
- Maintain positive interaction with students, staff, and parents.
- Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Standing for extended periods of time
