Oncology Clinical Research Nurse
- Act as a key point of communication among investigators, research staff, external study teams, and central research administration to support protocol interpretation, participant enrollment, and safety-related inquiries.
- Apply the nursing process as the foundation for delivering patient care.
- Evaluate research participants, perform comprehensive nursing assessments, document clinical findings in study records, and promptly report abnormal results to the physician.
- Develop individualized care plans in partnership with the participant, their family, and the research team.
- Oversee ongoing patient care, determine discharge needs, and support discharge planning when appropriate.
- Provide telephone triage and carry out nursing procedures and treatments.
- Ensure that standards of care are implemented and upheld in alignment with policies and procedures.
- Support the use of specialized clinical equipment required by research protocols.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician or licensed independent practitioner.
- Lead, coordinate, and participate in supervising nursing care for research participants, setting care priorities, and delegating tasks based on patient needs and staff competencies.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of assigned research protocols to ensure accurate, compliant study execution.
- Assist in preparing for audits and responding to audit findings.
- Contribute to the creation of protocol-specific checklists.
- Conduct and document the informed consent process.
- Support the development of research study budgets.
- Fulfill all clinical competency requirements.
- Stay current in relevant specialty knowledge.
- Engage in quality and process improvement initiatives.
- Graduation from an accredited professional nursing program
- Active state Registered Nurse (RN) license
- At least two years of clinical nursing experience - preferably within either oncology, med/surg or ICU, or clinical research
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Experience in oncology and/or clinical research
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cleveland, OH.
Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $41.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
