Program Support Specialist

Job Title: Program Support Specialist - Emergency Services

Reporting to: Director of Emergency Services

Responsible for: Support of Emergency Services programs and clients

Job Purpose: Provide support to Emergency Services programs and general administrative support of People in Need

Main Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Case management of clients assigned by Director.
• Provide customer service by phone, in person, and at events.
• Assist with reporting as needed.
• Assist in grant research and writing.
• Provide support for Senior Distribution of Holiday Clearing House and other Holiday Clearing House needs as needed.
• Attend and assist with evening and weekend events as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Background Requirements:

Education: Associate degree (or equivalent) Required; Bachelor's Degree Preferred; Non-profit experience a plus.

Skill Requirements:

• Self-motivated, self-directed with strong time management skills
• Excellent writing, communications, and public speaking skills
• Computer skills (Microsoft Office, particularly excel)
• Attention to detail
• High level of integrity
• Ability to build effective and collaborative relationships with a wide set of constituencies
• Grant writing experience
• Social Media
• Proficiency in a second language, specifically Spanish, a plus

Key Working Relationships: 

Will require excellent communication with inside and outside constituencies.  Inside would include direct reports, other team members and board members.  Outside would include partners in the community, funding sources and donors. 

Position Responsibilities:

• Planning: Responsible for assisting programs that operate on a daily, monthly, and annual calendar (Prescription, Eyecare, Dental, Eviction Prevention, Mortgage Assistance, Utility Assistance, Senior Holiday Clearing House, Back-to-School event, Fans Distribution, Advocacy and Referrals.)
• Decision Authority: Responsible for decision making related to client service and outside agencies on a day-to-day basis. Presents recommendations of new programs and partners to Director of Emergency Services.
• Budgetary: Responsible for assisting in developing and managing Emergency Services annual budget.

• Supervision Received: The Program Support Specialist must be a self-starter capable of taking initiative and able to work with minimal supervision.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week
