Summary:
The Athletic Trainer is responsible for the prevention evaluation treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries as well as overall health care administration for student-athletes. This role serves as a key liaison among physicians coaches athletes and parents to ensure safe participation in Athletic Trainer works closely with the Athletic Director to coordinate coverage of athletic events and maintain the athletic training facility. The position ensures that student-athletes participate only when medically cleared and that physician directives are properly communicated and followed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Provide coverage for home varsity contests selected non-varsity contests (including football) and away varsity football games based on scheduling with the Athletic Director.
- Provide practice coverage typically on a daily basis determined by sport risk level and scheduling considerations.
- Cover selected postseason contests as assigned.
- Prevent athletic injuries through taping bracing and other protective measures; assist in designing injury-reduction strategies.
- Advise coaches on conditioning flexibility and strength programs to enhance performance and reduce injury risk.
- Evaluate injuries and provide immediate care; refer athletes for further medical treatment as needed.
- Develop and supervise rehabilitation programs under physician direction.
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records including injury reports treatments referrals and rehabilitation progress.
- Manage inventory ordering and budgeting for athletic training supplies.
- Serve as a resource to middle school athletic programs on an as-needed basis.
- Assist with equipment selection fitting and safety recommendations.
- Communicate effectively with coaches parents and medical professionals regarding injuries and care plans.
- Coordinate emergency care and transportation when necessary.
- Make return-to-play decisions in the absence of a physician when appropriate.
- Review emergency medical procedures with coaches and athletes each season.
- Establish and maintain athletic training room hours and operations.
- Build and maintain relationships with team and community physicians.
- Supervise and mentor student athletic trainers or interns.
- Provide coverage across fall winter and spring sports including preseason and postseason.
- Cover PIAA-required football heat acclimatization week.
- Maintain professional standards in accordance with the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
To successfully perform this position a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement training skill and/or ability necessary.
- Pennsylvania State Athletic Trainer Licensure
- National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATA BOC) Certification
- Membership in good standing with NATA the local district and the state athletic trainers association
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with students staff parents and medical professionals
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing walking kneeling crouching and lifting up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work under pressure and exercise sound judgment in high-stakes situations
Reporting Relationships:
- Reports directly to the Athletic Director
- Reports indirectly to the building Principal
- Collaborates with administrators staff students parents/guardians and external partners
Terms of Employment:
- 10-month position including preseason and postseason responsibilities as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement
- Typical workday: 10:30 a.m. 6:00 p.m.; schedule flexibility required for evenings Saturdays and holidays
- No Sunday coverage required
- Starting salaries are determined based on relevant experience education and internal equity and are generally set below the midpoint of the salary range.
