Controls Engineer Coop 4th Year

POSITION SUMMARY

The Controls Engineering Coop (paid) provides support to the Controls Engineering team and assists with various conveyor systems projects. Travels to job sites, both local and on-the-road within the U.S up to 70%. These projects will provide the coop with an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of Controls Engineering. The coop will assist in PLC programming, field commissioning, I/O and graphical checkouts. They will gain knowledge of and interact with engineering and other business professionals throughout the coop.

MUST BE: Local to Cincinnati (OKI area) - to build our team long term (no out-of-state applicants). No temporary relocation assistance provided.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supports day-to-day operations of the Controls Engineering department developing a general understanding of all aspects of controls engineering, including policies, procedures and processes.
• Assist in the development of controls engineering projects for material handling systems.
• Travels to job sites, both local and on-the-road within the U.S. most of the time.
• Provides assistance with special projects as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

• Current enrollment in graduate or undergraduate degree program in an engineering related field at a recognized college or university.
• Local to Cincinnati (OKI area) - to build our team long term (no out-of-state applicants).
• Open to 70% travel to job sites all over the U.S.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
• Basic analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, and planning skills.
• Solid verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
• Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other Matthews employees.
• Ability to work under direct supervision within a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated with critical attention to detail.
• Must have current driver’s license, and reliable transportation.

PHYSICAL ASPECTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk, hear and see.
• Regularly/Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. (Standard is 10lbs, modify as needed)
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Regularly/Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold & heat, risk of electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
• The noise level in the work environment may be high.
